Plating Your Tilapia


Tilapia is a great dish to prepare for anyone who is keen on seafood. It’s not only a delicious dish but tilapia is also low in mercury, they grow quickly and live off of a primarily vegetarian diet. They are low in saturated fat which can cause tons of health problems when accumulated in the system. Tilapia is low in calories, carbohydrates and sodium and is a phenomenal source of protein.

It also contains the micronutrients phosphorus, niacin, selenium, vitamin B12 and potassium so if you’ve never tried it before, now is as good a time as any. You will reap the benefits and get those brain boosting fatty acids as well. Tilapia is cooked in different ways and is incorporated into many different menus across the world because of its moist mild-flavored versatility.

Everywhere we look there are advertisements of some sort displaying beautifully arranged meals that make your mouth water. It’s easier for someone to make something look nice for a picture. In fact there are specialized professionals who do this as career. Although these pictures or advertising videos make that food look so tasty the truth is that this food is usually half or undercooked and pined together etc. Sadly it’s probably not as edible as portrayed.

Fortunately a credible chef will know how to make something taste delicious and look amazing at the same time. This is where we start talking about the food presentation. So you’ve followed all the directions and used all the ingredients listed for your tilapia and you’ve done the same for your tomato butter caper sauce. The aroma of the tilapia, the garlic, and the tomato are filling the kitchen and you’re ready to start on the display. You’ll need a nice plate to display. Investing in some nice dishes is always a great idea in restaurants as well as in your home. This is true especially if you do a lot of entertaining.

You’ve worked hard and now it’s time for the finishing touches. Start with a whole ginger root and a sharp knife. Pinch it between your fingers on the thin side and cut it right down the middle. This will make a beautiful garnish. Next grab a zucchini and with this you’ll want to find the spot where you would cut if slicing in half widthwise and on an angle start slicing about half way through in a crisscross fashion all the way around until you meet back with the point you started from. Once you’re done pull it apart and you’ll have a spiky design on one end of each half. Place your zucchini halves side by side and slice off the rounded ends. We then will take some fresh parsley and roughly chop up a little bit. Add your noodles and then shingle on your tilapia. Break off a piece of parsley and put it too one side of your tilapia then add in your zucchini and ginger root. Pour some sauce over top of the tilapia and sprinkle on some parsley. Then voila you’re left with a gorgeous dish of food to share.
